Obituary of Geraldine Evelyn Burnett

BURNETT(Stevens), Geraldine Evelyn "Jean" Age 76, of New Minas, formerly of Lockhartville, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 27, 2017 at home with her family by her side. Jean was born in Freeport, New York. She was the daughter of the late John Stevens and Fanny (Bedell) Woodworth. Jean grew up in Long Island, New York and moved to Nova Scotia in 1969 with her husband, "Eddie", and their two daughters, where he built a home in Lockhartville and had two more daughters. Our Mom was a homemaker and a loving Mother. She also became a Bookkeeper and enjoyed her jobs very much. Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Barbara, Carol (John), Kerry and Michelle (Derick); grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Jessica, Nicole, Joshua, Brandon and Dakota; and great grandchildren; also half-sister, Gail Grempel and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; and sisters, Barbara, Marilyn and Doris. A very special thank you to Dr. Christopher King for all the special care he gave to our Mom. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 31. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Pauline Coffin officiating. Burial will follow in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Donations in memory of Geraldine may be made to Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program, 46 Chipman Dr., Kentville, NS B4N 3V7.
