Obituary of Anthony Peter Duke
Age 76, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. Born on February 16, 1947 in Croydon, England, he was a son of the late Frank and Etha (Kilpatrick) Duke.
Tony was insightful, a man of integrity, an outdoorsman, a lifelong learner, a craftsman, an environmentalist, a vintner and most of all a proud husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a Wildlife Habitat Biologist who loved his work. He was a beekeeper and for many years he was a member of the NS Grape Growers Association. Tony loved his workshop and woodworking, especially building furniture, gardening, hiking, rving, Christmas bird count and hunting with his dog and his buddy. Tony was also a faithful church member and very involved in all of the parishes he attended over the years, including St. James, Great Village, Trinity United in Canning and currently, Windsor United Church, Windsor. Tony’s last project that he was very proud to be a part of was the Faithful Footprints Project which is aimed to reduce the churches carbon footprint. All in all, He Loved Life.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Susan “Sue” Stewart; son, Andrew (Tara); daughter, Erin (Bill) MacIntyre; grandchildren, Katie, Claire and Will MacIntyre and Ava and Henry Duke; sister, Maxine Allaby; brother, Dale (Janet); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
