Obituary of Gordon Foster Hendy
The family are sad to announce the passing of Gordon Foster Hendy of Falmouth, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Hants Community Hospital, at the age of 86. Gordon was born February 28, 1937 to the late Foster and Eleanor (Nelson) Hendy at Hopewell Cape, Albert County, New Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Blanche (Green) Hendy; son, Robert (Donna), Mt. Denson; son, Carl, Fort MacMurray, AB; daughter, Nancy Breau, Colpitts Settlement, NB; and grandsons, Christopher and Brandon Breau.
Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased his brother, Ronald and sister-in-law, Carole. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Gordon's greatest passion was his work in the family-owned monument industry. First at 16 years old with his grandfather (Geo. W. Nelson & Sons) in Lower Cape, Albert County, NB. Then a move to Sussex, NB, with the then named company Nelson Monuments. His final move was with his family to Windsor in 1967 as Vice President of Heritage Memorials. He retired officially in 2002 with many more unofficial retirements after that date. From working in the quarry, to manufacturing, to delivery, he proudly took part in every aspect of the monument business.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Hants Community Hospital for their kindness and support during this past difficult week.
