Lillian Ann (Vaccaro) Belliveau

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that in her 91st year Lillian, of Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, NS formerly of Ottawa, ONT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024, following a struggle with challenging illness. Born in Montreal, QC on January 1, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Cesare and Rosa (Raspa) Vaccaro.

In the early 1950’s, Lilian started working with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Montreal, where she would later meet the love of her life and future husband, J. Everett Belliveau. After courtship, they were married in 1955, followed by the birth of their two sons, Stephen in 1959 and Mark in 1963.

Lillian enjoyed family life including travelling, socializing, friends and family, home life and gardening, which she enjoyed for many years and where she would take care of and feed the birds. Her favourites were cardinals and hummingbirds.

Lillian enjoyed her later years spending time with her husband, whether it was shopping, out for walks or spending time together alone at home. She loved to laugh, joke and the lighter side of life, which was clearly demonstrated when she relocated to her son, Mark, and family’s home in July of 2022. There she would enjoy her time playing games and cards and shopping with her two granddaughters, especially for food and new clothes and shoes, of which she had a great passion for. She loved her food especially when it was made for her and the best part for her was her suppertime glass of white wine.

Lillian enjoyed evenings spent with her granddaughters, crafting, knitting, listening to music and of course, snacking (her favourite part of the evening). She also enjoyed having visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending fun times with them. She also had a passion for the dogs, although we’re not certain if she adopted the dogs or they adopted her.

Lillian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marlene Belliveau; grandchildren, Jacob, Kenna, Amy-Kim, Mikael (Kayla), Nick (Jennifer), Matt (Brandon and family) and Nelson (and family); great-grandchildren, Savannah, Hailey, Liam, Zander, Madison, Brooklyn, Anna-lea, Lexie, Rebecca, Kaleb and Kody; as well as, daughter-in-law, Laurie Blackstock; sisters-in-law, Pierrette Vaccaro and Gloria Belliveau; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her husband, J. Everett; son, Stephen; great-granddaughter, Chloe; sisters, Mary, Helen and Alice; brothers, Tony and Peter; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and niece, Christina.  

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m., in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. David Curry officiating. Following the service, Lillian will be cremated and her ashes will be returned to Ottawa to be interred with J. Everett in Capital Memorial Gardens, Garden of Traditions on Friday, May 10 at !0:00 a.m., anyone is welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, prayers for Lillian and her family would be much appreciated. If so desired, donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
