Obituary of Charles Howard Spencer
Age 72, of the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, formerly of Summerville and Brooklyn, Hants County, died on Tuesday, August 20. 2024, in the Windsor Elms Village. Born on June 24, 1952, he was a son of the late Howard William and Lorna Elizabeth (Lake) Spencer.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Janice (Conway) Spencer, Brooklyn; son, Mark (Kristen) Spencer, West Saint Andrews; daughter, Anitra Spencer, Brooklyn; grandchildren, Avery and Josie States and Adeline and Elizabeth Spencer; sister, Helena (Art) Sanford, Burlington; brothers, Kenny, Windsor, Larry (Debbie) and Donnie (Liz), all of Summerville, Bruce (Wanda), Lakelands; as well as, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; brother-in law, James (Susan), Fort St John, BC; Nelson (Shelley), Kinderley, SK; Sandy (Celia), Saskatoon, SK and sister-in-law, Rosemary (Byron) Richmond, Gravelbourg, SK.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister and brother-in-law, Joan (Grant) Baldridge; brothers, Lester (Sharon) Spencer and Brian; sister, Gloria; as well as brother, Johnny Malcom in infancy; mother and father-in-law, James and Hilda (Sanford) Conway.
Charlie was very proud of having worked at the Halifax Shipyards as well as the Department of Transportation in Brooklyn as a dispatcher and had fond memories of those times. As well, he was very proud to have been a volunteer member of the Summerville & District Volunteer Fire Department and was recently (May 2024) presented with his 50-year volunteer award. Charlie's legacy also includes his love of all animals, especially his fur babies, Chance, Molly and Beauty.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held 2-4 p.m., Sunday, September 15 in the Summerville Fire Hall, 59 Summerville Wharf Rd., Summerville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlie may be made to the Summerville & District Volunteer Fire Department, 59 Summerville Wharf Rd., Summerville, NS B0N 2K0 or to Loyal Hill Cemetery, C/O Juliette Spencer, 33 Nunn Rd., Summerville, NS B0N 2K0.
