Obituary of Kevin William John Simms

Age 36, of Hantsport, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, on December 24, 1987 he was a son of Brenda O’Brien (Bill Gates) and William “Bill” Simms (biological father).

Kevin was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He took any opportunity to go the woods and explore. In the winter, Kevin would be seen at Martock snowboarding as much as possible. He was always helping and encouraging others as they learned, sharing in his love of the sport.

There was no one Kevin loved more than his daughter, Mackenzie. One of her favourite memories is going to walk through the Christmas lights in Hantsport with her Dad.

Besides his parents, Kevin is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie; brother, Brandon King; sister, Kendra Simms; niece and nephew, Nya and Max King and their mom, Emma Schofield; grandmother, Doris Gates; Nanny Mom, Donna (Harris) Wood; aunt, Debbie Fitzgerald and many close family members and friends.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317).  A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m., in Hantsport Baptist Church, 6 Willow St., Hantsport, Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating, with a reception to follow immediately after in the Wellwood Community Hall. Interment will take place at a later date.
