Obituary of Russell Eaton Bent
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Russ in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 88 years of age. Born in Kentville on December 7, 1935, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Whalen) Bent.
Russ is survived by his brother, Charles (Frances) as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Blanche and brothers, Lemuel, Waldon and Walter.
A devoted uncle, he shared a special bond with his nieces, Theresa Salsman (Carl) and Kathy Bent-Lake (Donnie) and their children. His eyes would always light up when they arrived. When asked how he was, the response was always “absolutely wonderful”. A more positive and kind man did not exist! Russ loved his time on the family farm, caring for the cattle and doing all of those farm chores that were central to his being. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who would regale visitors with stories of big game and fish.
The family would like to thank all the home care gals and VON nurses who provided the care so important to Russ as it enabled him to stay in his home. He would want you to know he enjoyed every one of your visits and was thankful for your support.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 30.
