So sorry to learn of Shirley's passing. Mum (Mary Louise Rippey) called to let me know. I will always remember stopping on the way from school at Shirley's to see if I might get offered a cookie. There are no words that can express how very sad I am to know that dear Shirley has passed away. She has been my " Forever Friend ", since long before we started school. I used to " Tag-along " with her and Bernard when they were Courting !! I don't know when he got the chance to propose...some how, they got rid-of-me, when that happened !! So-oo many wonderful memories and I will treasure them always. Bernard and family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I love you all. With much love and sincere sympathy, Saundra & Family

How saddened I was to learn of Shirley's passing. Ken and I loved visiting you and Shirley at your home, Bernie, and the subsequent visits you made here at Sunken Lake with your family. Yes, it was for business reasons - but it will never take away how we were received at your home. Shirley was an absolute jewel as you and Ken discussed the business details and Shirley showed me her Christmas decor - it was absolutely perfect for your homestead! I loved every minute of our time together. Then, during your last visit with us - Shirley didn't come and i knew right away something was wrong. Truly, my heartfelt sympathy for the passing of a wonderful Wife, Mother, Mother-in-Law and Grammie to Amelia and Jorja who visited us at Sunken Lake.

May it help to know that our hearts are touch by your loss and that many thoughts are with you now. After meeting your family on a snow covered trail a few winters ago, and the three of us were crammed on one sled, it was then that Shirley told me to get my own Sled, that was great advice, now we each have our own Sled and love every moment of the winter snow! Thanks Shirley! Lori Anne, Mike and Aaron Webb

Dear Joy and family: I was saddened to hear of your Moms' death. You are in our thoughts and prayers, and my heart is with you at this time of such loss. Having just lost Dad this past spring I know the heartache of grief and truly hope that you all, like me, can take comfort in the wonderful memories of your precious Mom. It is what has sustained me in the months since my fathers' death. We had them for a long time and there is comfort in that. I am thinking of you all, especially my sweet Joy who shared many a tear with me when we worked together. I know you are grieving with all of your being Joy, and please know that time does seem to ease it somehow. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead. Love to you all, Bonnie

Dear Uncle Bernard and beloved cousins; I am so sorry for your loss. You got it just right with your obituary - Aunt Shirley was the family weather guru and never seemed dismayed when her early morning weather prediction would end up being correct and the radio and TV would get it wrong. We all loved her quiet wit and I especially enjoyed checking in with her at family functions when in 3 or 4 words she would sum up the whole day near the end of the event. She was the best kind if Canadian in that she truly loved winter and always seemed a bit glum when the final snows were melting off of the trails.I had the privilege of spending quality time with Shirley when I was in need of special guidance and the advice she gave became my beacon of hope. She was a special lady, we will all dearly miss her but know that she was so very proud of all of you, her beautiful family. xo
