WE have many fond memories of Florence and her kindness to many people--especially Aunt Kate Sanderson. We will never forget her kindness. She lived a long and useful and fulfilling life, and we now send our sympathy and kind thoughts to all at this time. It is never easy to part with a parent no matter what age for us or them, remember the good times and they will get you throught this difficult time. I understand her quality of life has not been good these last few years ,but I'm sure there were many that were. Sincere sympathy and hugs for all. Frank and Dolores.

Hi Brenda & Ronnie: Just heard of your Mum's passing and wanted to pass along my sympathy. I know it is such a hard time for you and your families but also trust that she is in God's care and past any pains or sorrows. I have great memories of time we spent all together at Grammie & Grampie's home and enjoyed listening to Mum speak of times they all had together. Mum often wanted to get to see her but somehow when we were down it just never happened. Another case of putting things off that we shouldn't. Please know that I will keep you all in my prayers. Love, Sandra

I was sorry to hear about Mrs Barkhouse on Saturday night. I took over playing in church when she stopped and have been since - I don't know if I will make 27 years or not. I always wished I could play like her. All someone had to say its to high and she just changed it - I don't do that!!! I play the notes but sometimes now I switch from sharps to flats and don't realize it. Fuuny - I remember her upstairs when we worked at the telephone office. I remember her always the same - always kind and thoughtful. Her and my Mom used to have lenthly conversations. Enjoy your memories and take care. Diane

Joy & Don Morash posted a condolence
Thinking of you all at this time. Thought I would share this with you: Approx 20 years ago I sang in the Brooklyn United Church choir. Florence was our dedicated organist and possibly coined a new way of holding practice-over the phone. She would call you and go over the hymns for the next service, playing the organ and singing with you. Now this was the time before cell phones were really popular, so how she held/placed the phone and played successfully is a mystery! Don always enjoyed our "practice" sessions. Joy

To the Family of Florence Barkhouse: I want to express my condolences to you on the death of Florence. I was minister for the Newport Pastoral Charge in the mid 1980's and was priviledged to have Florence as the organist both in Newport and Mosherville/Scotchvillage. We became good friends during that time and kept in contact for some years after. You were very blessed to have such a wonderful lady in your family. May God grant you many wonderful memories of time spent with her and may you always celebrate her life. Sincerely, Rev. Sandra Carruthers

Many Many fond memories of Florence. Her great interest and love in her family, neighbours, and the history of this area was a constant source of enlightenment to me. She never waivered on her joy of sharing her knowledge and her friendship. Such a great lady to be missed by all who knew her. Somewhere up above, God is enjoying Florences' music and stories.
