As president of the Nova Scotia PC Party I got to appreciate just how great a person he was and what a history of good for Lunenburg County especially to the Constituents of Chester St. Margarets-New Ross who will always remember their MLA. I will long remember him as one of the best. Irene T. Swindells Past President of the NS PC Party

Lloma Jane Chase posted a condolence
Dear Eleanor: Sorry for your loss. Think I talked to Ron once about his Barkhouse study. You and I know each other from Acadia. My grandfather was Archie Robin Chase, I believe son of James/Annie Chase (Berghaus); Ron was Gramp's nephew and talked about a lot when he became MLA as I grew up in Gramp's household. I think I saw my great grandmother in his study which I am reading at Hfax. Spr. Gdn.Rd. library. Eleanor, phone me or e-mail me some time as I'd like to discuss the German-Lunenberg study with you. The dancer, Ruby Keeler, was another relative but can't find her in the booklet. Regards, Lloma Jane Chase, B.A.,S.Sc.,B.Ed.,M.Ed., (Qualified Teacher of Ballroom-Latin-Salsa Dancing) (M) Cdn. Dancesport Federation, DansNS., C.D.T.A. 423-5557, Halifax

Ron Barkhouse (always Mr. Minister to me) was simply the most genuine and personably open gentleman whom I had the pleasure to serve under in my many years of government service across Canada. I became even better friends with him and Mrs. Barkhouse over their years in retirement. Please accept one more sincere expression of loss and condolence at his passing.

Roy w. Boylan posted a condolence
I never had the pleasure of meeting Ron but he touched my life greatly. I began my research into my roots in New Ross over ten years ago. Over the years, Ron (and Vernon) supplied me with information and answered my questions via e-mail and regular mail. It wasn't just the facts he sent me but also his enthusiasm that brought alive my ancestors and their lives. On behalf of myself and countless other researchers who have been enriched by his efforts, I extend my condolences to his family and friends. Roy W. Boylan (great grandson of Thomas J. Boylan of New Ross).
