Obituary of Roderick Clifford Fenton

Please share a memory of Roderick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 66, Clarksville, Hants Co., passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born December 24, 1947 in Clarksville, he was a son of the late Arthur and Vivian (Gould-Clark) Fenton. In his earlier years, Rod worked as a painter and for C&M Ells Ltd. He enjoyed playing guitar, repairing TV’s and radios, mackerel fishing in Chester, visiting friends and family, and helping his brothers in the woods and machine shop. In later years, his favourite pastimes were card parties and playing darts, and of course, teasing the "girlios." Rod struggled with pain and illness for many years. Through it all, he’d try to maintain that big hearty laugh and maybe share an occasional cus word. Rod was especially proud of each and every one of his nieces and nephews, and thoroughly enjoyed visits with his little great nieces and nephews. He loved them all! Rod is survived by his sister, Ava (Ted) Corkum, Port Williams; half brothers, Bill Clark, Stanley; Gordon Fenton (Liz Stewart), Clarksville; and Herman (Karen) Fenton, Prince George, B.C.; and brother, David (Kerry-Lee) Fenton, Clarksville; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Evie Fenton and Maddy Flynn; half brother, Alby Clark. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit 200 of Hants Community Hospital and the Colchester East Hants VON Support Team for the wonderful care given to Rod. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22 in St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Stanley, Rev. Carson Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Donations in memory of Rod may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.demontfamilyfuneralhome.ca
