We wish to express sincere condolences to the family of Lewis Benedict. Since Lewis was a resident at Dykeland Lodge we had the pleasure to keep in-touch with Lewis by remembering him on special holidays with notes in cards throughout the year. Warmly, Pat (O'Brien) & Bob Murray - Truro

So sorry to hear about Lewis's passing. He was a great friend of the family. The last time I saw him in Sept 07 while I was in NS for my mother's service, he told me about the time he shot 2 deer one day and knew how poor and hard up we were for food, he graciously gave my parents one of the deers ( Cornelia and Jan deMan ) I remember going to Lewis and Minnie's many times for tea and cookies. He will be missed. <3 Margaret deMan Baldwin

We were saddened to see the announcement of Lewis's passing in the paper but also impressed and not one bit surprised to read that he lived to 106. What a tremendous age. I do hope that his later years at Dkyeland Lodge were reasonably good ones for him. We purchased the Munroe Davis farm in 1989 and I always enjoyed taking eggs down to Lewis in his cottage down the road. I was always surprised when I would walk into the kitchen in the hot summer and find his trusty wood stove burning. Also remember his water pump. He worked hard all his life and refused to acknowledge his years - I never heard him complain about anything - so I'm very glad his life was such a long one. Our thoughts are with you all, Rosie, Keith, Jasmine and Alex Hare.
