To Helen's Family-
Dear Friends:
I have known Helen since I first went to work in the Health Records Department at Payzant Memorial Hospital in 1964.
Helen was a lovely, friendly lady. She was a dedicated worker, took a great interest in people and loved to travel. We had mutual friends so would often see her at functions outside our working place and we were entertained at her home on a number of special occasions. Helen has left my husband Peter and me with special memories.
Due to a prior commitment we are sorry we cannot be at Helen's memorial service on April 18th to say good bye to a special lady but want you to know that our thoughts and sympathy are with you.
Sincerely,
Karen Rowlands

With sadness I learn of Helen's passing but with Joy I recall the wonderful time we all had together as my wife, Sherry, her mother Ruth, Helen and I travelled to Oberammergau, Germany to attend the world renowned Passion Play in 2000. That centuries old presentation has been held every 10 years since 1450, and it was Helen's 3rd time for being there.
With Helen's excitement driving her on to her next moment of delight, we had great fun trying to keep up with her - a marvellous example of what fun live can be as, at that time, she was "only 80".
My condolences go to her family and many friends - we all have many reasons to be grateful to God for having such a warm and wonderful person touch our lives.

i have known Helen since I was 4. Helen and Margaret moved to North Yorkshire, England when they were aged 7-9 and were friends of my Mum and her sister. When Helen and Margaret returned to Canada, the girls wrote to each other. When Helen and Margaret travelled to the UK, they would visit my family home and spend time with us.
I gained my love of travel from Helen. She encouraged me to visit Nova Scotia when I was 19 and we had a wonderful time. When I married and our son Thomas was born, we had 3 happy holidays with Helen in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and one holiday together in England.
Helen was always supportive of my family and we kept in touch throughout her life. Helen was kind, thoughtful and considerate of others. We loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.

I was a staff member of Hants Community Hospital in the laboratory and knew Helen from there although I always called her Miss Gibson. I knew her socially as we attended different social functions where we would always talk. She was always an interesting person and I loved her stories of her travels. She lived a full life and I am richer for having known her. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Helen has been a cherished friend since 1969, when I joined the staff at the Payzant Memorial Hospital. We have corresponded regularly since my return to the ISle of Man, GB and I had the joy of revisiting her and Margaret in 1980 and sharing a holiday with her around the Cabot Trail in 2008.
Although not English by birth, Helen was the archetypical English lady, very genteel and gracious, well informed and caring. She kept abreast of national and international politics her beautifully neatly written letters were always informative, I loved to receive them.
I am truly sorry that because of the distance from the Isle of Man, I will be unable to attend the funeral, but she will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the privilege of visiting Miss Gibson on many occasions over the years in my role with the QEII Foundation. She was an intelligent woman with a strong faith and a deep respect for humanity. I will miss our chats about life, her church and her interesting past. My condolences go out to all who knew her, as her death is mourned and her life celebrated.

So very sorry to hear of Miss Gibson's passing. When I was taking the Secretarial Course at Windsor Regional, I did my two week work experience at the Payzant Memorial Hospital and she was one of the people who helped me. I met her off and on over the years, she always spoke and always had a pleasant smile. She will be missed.

I met Helen through the Windsor Farmer's Market. We discussed obscure jellies that are no longer being made - her father's favourite was rowan. She gave me a recipe that had been in her family and addressed the note respectfully to "Mrs. Neily" even though I was much younger than her.
She was always gracious.
