Obituary of Stewart Theall White

Age 77, of Windsor, Hants Co. We the family sadly announce his passing on Tuesday, February 25, 2015 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Dad was born March 11, 1937 in Inverness, Cape Breton. He was a son of the late Stewart and Julia White. Stewart joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17 years and served for 21 years as an electrical engineer. After retiring from the navy he then went on to work at the Hants Community Hospital for 28 short years where he thought of everyone as his second family. Dad is survived by children, Kelly (Russell), Bill (Susie), Kathy and Brian (Bonnie); five grandchildren and six great grandchildren whom he adored; brother, Percy, Cape Breton; sister, Judy (Glenn), Bridgewater; sister-in-law, Winnie, Cape Breton; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Coleen White (2004); sisters, Margaret, Norma, Georgie (Art); brothers, Kenneth (Kaye) and James; sister-in-law, Jessie; niece, Blanche; nephew, Wally. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, February 27. A combined Royal Canadian Legion tribute and funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Karen Lynch officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. Private family interment will be held at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stewart may be made to the Hants Co. SPCA, PO Box 2274, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.
