Mike
We have known each other since elementary school ( GO Tolmie Tigers) but in high school at the Boys club we became like brothers, after you moved back east we lost contact with each other. I had not heard from your mom in so many years but when I had a heart attack she walked into hospital room one day and I got you number from her, but just as we started to reconnect you were taken away, I will miss those long talks on the phone with you Mike. Rest in Peace buddy, we will meet again.

We were very saddened to hear of Mike's death. He was a caregiver to my dad until he died and then to my mom Margaret who is still with us. We enjoyed Mike's visit and would often forget why he was here! He spent the night before my dad's death sitting around the bed with us and was truly like part of the family. A beautiful soul who will be greatly missed!
We pray for you as a family that the wonderful memories of Mike will be close to your hearts and that God will give each of you the grace you need in this difficult time.

Since Alice contacted me last Thursday to let me know about Mikes passing I have written many things down about him to describe Michael and I really had a hard time of what to put down in words of what Mike meant to me.
Well I know what to say I think, Mike and I had a very close friendship when we were younger we went to the same schools and lived only a few blocks from each other but then the Goodwins moved and we lost touch for a few years that was until he showed up at my high school one day and we reconnected once again , Mike and I hung out together so much that we shared family's and homes , we were like brothers and Alice was like my mom and of course Melinda was like my sister that I had to hate and argue with just like family and I did, just as Mike was welcomed into my family and acted like he belonged there. and because of this closeness I missed Mike when he moved away from Victoria to Nova Scottia to be close to his sister. we spoke a few times after that but because I had moved and he was on the move we did not know how to contact each other for many years. Fast forward to two years ago when I had my heart attack , Alice came to the hospital to visit me and gave me a number to get hold of Mike. I tried several times and finally Mike called me back and with in minutes of us talking on the phone it was like we had not lost contact with each other at all, we were able to run up large phone bills.
He let me know that he had found a beautiful woman to marry and they had a son together, Mike let me know just how much he loved Dawn and just how proud he was to be a father to Cody the both of them made him want to be a better man for his new family. During one of our phone calls he informed me that Dawn & Cody were flying out to Victoria and he wanted my Family and I to meet them. Right away I could see why mike fell in love with Dawn not only was she a very beautiful woman, she was also really good for mike she gave him the ability to be grounded and look to the future and make some goals that he wanted to reach and he did just that he became a family man and gave everything of himself to his wife and child. He started a new career and expressed the joy he had working with people and how he felt when he could make their lives just a little better, he had plans that he had hoped to complete but as always he would ask for guidance from me when we talked and I would offer up anything that might help.
But mike was taken away from his family and friends and way to soon and I lost a brother. You might be gone but not forgotten Mike , I can look back at the past and think of the many things Mike did that it brings a smile to my face and I am sure that is what Mike would want, for everyone to think of him and remember what he would do that can make you smile and laugh. I am so sorry Dawn for your loss and my heart is very heavy for his son Cody. Remember this Cody he was living his life for you and he will always be watching over you and some how he will come through to you when you need him most and do all he can to help guide you in your life. Alice and Melinda of course you now how sad I feel for you both, and I wish there was something I could do to take away all of your pain at this time of sorrow. Time is the only thing to help someone move on from a loss like this and I want you all know that the Wilson's are thinking of you and we wish you all well.
So at this moment I can only say goodbye my brother you were always my best friend.

God rest your soul Mike. I've worked with you very often over the past couple of years and you were a kind and gentle man with a good heart to the clients and anyone else who was around us at the time. we've talked a lot of things. we didn't always agree on things as we always thought different on politics and stuff lol but we always agreed to disagree. We had a quite a few heart to heart talks based on the fact that we went through a couple of similar things and I wish I could have had more of those talks with you. We have been on class trips with Cody also.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mike many times over the past few years. He was so kind to the clients and had developed friendly relationships with many of them. I especially enjoyed Mike's talks about politics and his humour.

I had the privilege of working with Mike from time to time. I will never forget his friendly personality, his jokes, the way he made the clients smile.
