I was very sorry to read of Cheryl's passing.
While doing some Fox family research at the Windsor Historical Society a few years ago they put me in touch with Cheryl. Her mother Polly had been brought up by my Granduncle George Laurie Fox and his wife Margaret. George was a brother to my Grandmother Mabel Fox Brown who moved to Maine early in the 1900s.
Cheryl was very kind to send me some family pictures and fill me in on some of the history that she remembered.
I am sorry that I did not get a chance to return to the Windsor area and visit her.
My deepest sympathies, Mick

So sorry you have lost her. Cheryl made a difference in each person's life that she touched, supportive, positive, with that special energy that so few people have. She helped sustain me through a very difficult time in my life and made our choir times funny and so beautiful. Her life mattered.

Dear Wynne, Tara, Greg, Saundra & grandchildren. ...I know we are far from alone when we express our deep sorrow for you all. Cheryl was the most beautiful, spirited, talented, fun person we have ever known! Oh,the stories I could tell!!! Sometimes we would just lay on the grass and look at the clouds, making decisions on shapes. Other (more racy) things that were always a blast. She loved you all so much and was loved by so many. We'll miss her, but are blessed to have known her. Love, Allison & Gordon xo

Tara, Greg, Wynne and Saundra. Sorry to hear of Cheryl's passing. Winsdor was a highlight for me and that was mostley because of Cheryl. Oh the fun we all had! Skiing at Martock, working the hay with the 'girls', going to lunch in the Valley and, of course, swimming in the river (clothing optional!) Such a bright light. Cheryl's positivity, kindness and deep love for life.....limitless. Xoxox

Dear Cheryl: Today I went to your funeral...god, am I really saying that?
Reverends Bill Gibson and Tom Henderson didn't disappoint. Rev. Gibson had everyone rolling in our pews..almost. I think Steve really should have put on a Whooppee wig..maybe that would have gotten us moving...but it was wonderful. Steve's solo was perfect and the other selections really 'you'. I'm sure I'm not the only one who could see your floating down the river. The flowers were splendid and all your favourite colors. You could have painted that for sure. Saundra wore the really pretty yellow sweater you got her for her birthday...she like the rest of us can't believe you went before us. We have a date for a 'cup of tea'...We got to meet Wynne's family so nice that they made the trip. That was good for Wynne and the kids. Gregg and Tara are rocks. So much of both of you there. When did we blink and our kids grew up?
Cheryl dear the church was packed and yes they should be allowed to take up a collection.
You were one of a kind...I remember the laughs, fun and cries we shared and I know everyone there today had a special Cheryl moment or more. I saw faces there I forgot I knew. You my dear touched so many in a real heartfelt way.
Safe journey my dear and keep your eye on us.
Your friend beyond ...Dolena

Dear Wynne, Greg and Tara
We were so sorry to hear of Cheryl's passing. She had such a joy for life and was so kind and full of laughter. Mom and I have been thinking of her and sharing some pleasant memories over the past few days. I remember vividly meeting her when I had the pleasure to travel fo Nova Scotia with Aunt Leone, Uncle Albert, Loralee and Corlette before she and Wynne were married. She, and her family, were so happy to welcome Wynne's family. Mom and Dad enjoyed visiting with the family when they visited Nova Scotia and Mom always loved a visit from Wynne and Cheryl when they came to Ontario.
May your lifetime of happy memories sustain you in the days ahead.

I am so sorry. Cheryl was a special person. She was a teacher and mentor to me when I was a kid exploring art, and she contributed to my career choice, and decision to attend NSCAD. Cheryl was whacky, light hearted, and fun to be around when we were kids and teens. Not every adult can pull that off! :) I will always remember Cheryl as that person (on her bike with the tall flag on the back). I am thinking of you. Take care. xo

It's been many years since I visited Cheryl in her home with my mother Agnes Connor. Cheryl and Wynne were our close neighbours on Penhorn Lake in Dartmouth - our back yards bordered each other. On many occasions Cheryl and I leaned over the back fence and shared stories and giggles! Our friendship first started when I was Greg and Tara's babysitter in my early teens. When I became a young mother at 17 years with my eldest daughter Tracey, Cheryl, having no judgement or condemnation, walked alongside me with love, comfort and acceptance. We met often chatted over tea in her kitchen or practiced yoga to soothing music. Cheryl was the chef who taught me how to make her famous grilled cheese sandwiches with tiny chopped onions and mustard - disgusting! But, from the first bite, I was hooked for life! It's funny the things you remember about people! But beyond everything, I will always remember Cheryl for her immense capacity for joy and love, her spontaneous outbursts of singing, the sparkle in her big brown eyes and her infectious laughter and endless energy! I'm sad that she's no longer with us, but I know without any doubt, I'll be giggling and munching on grilled cheese sandwiches with her again! Cheryl, you are "one in a million" and I am privileged and blessed to call you my sister and friend. This is not goodbye for I'll see you later in eternity! My heart, love and prayers to you Wynne, Gregg and Tara and familes. May God's Spirit bring you peace and comfort through this time of loss. Much love always, MaryAnne

Dear Family,
Cheryl was a good friend to my mum and to me and every time she would see me she would hug me and whisper in my ear - where is the special coffee?
This would illicit a round of giggles of the many times I would avail myself on her and the riverside with a thermos full of Bailey's and Coffee, sometimes to kayak but more often to chat - a story to share or an opinion to seek out. We had a great deal of fun as that was Cher's speciality - she had an abundance of joy and the ability to pass it along.
We will all miss her but how lucky we were to know her - deepest sympathies.

My mother Marie Graham (formerly Marie Lawrence from Upper Falmouth, N.S.),my sister Allison and I were so happy to have seen Cheryl when we visited Nova Scotia for a family reunion/80th birthday of Mom's brother Bill 2 summers ago. She was such a wonderful hostess, showing us around her lovely home with all of her beautiful artwork displayed throughout. She gave us each a painting to take home with us! I was drawn to a very interesting watercolour of a kind of dark forest that she said she had painted while going through chemo. It is framed and hanging on my wall, and I was just admiring it the day my mom called to tell me of her passing. That picture will always remind me of that special lady and that special day! A sweet memory of Cheryl for me is when the Church Choir would have a special anthem and they would come down from the loft and get positioned on the steps in front of the congregation. Our eyes would meet (because she was such a joy to behold) and she'd wink at me. I loved that. ~bb

My heart is aching at the loss my dear friend. Cheryl attended our concert at WUBC (Windsor United Baptist Church) in June and we had a wonderful talk, shared a few laughs, some tears and special hugs. I will be forever thankful for those moments. Over the years we sang together many times and during my time in the Windsor United Church Choir we shared many laughs. So much so that Sandy DeLong used to separate us! We tried to make more time for each other over the past several years, but sadly, we didn't do so well at that. I am imagining your beautiful voice singing in Heaven! Till we meet again, dear friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love, Tina

Wynn, Tara , Greg and to all family members , I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Cheryl had such an amazing spirit and light about her. She glowed and radiated such warmth always. I have so many wonderful memories of her right from childhood throughout the years. When you saw Cheryl you knew there would be laughter and fun and she filled our home with this on so many occasions when she visited. I will remember these times with great fondness always. Her and mum had a special friendship and a closeness that was wonderful to watch. I feel lucky to have known her.
Much love,

To know her was to love her! Friend, teacher, fellow cancer patient and the beautiful voice of our wedding.. Cher was so many things to me but most important, a wonderful free, fun individual who loved life and everyone around her.
Family was so important to her and all of you certainly did her proud with your amazing care right to the end. A star has been extinguished and we shall miss the glow that shone on us all.
Our hearts are very heavy as we send our heartfelt condolences to all of you.

Glenn, myself and our daughter Natalie would like to extend our deepest condolences to Cheryl's family and closest friends. Cheryl was an inspiration to me when we sang in the United Church choir for years. Her beautiful voice could always be heard leading the sopranos in our Sunday hymns. Cheryl's artwork was also to be admired and gave a lot of us aspiring artists in the community, initiative to strive to be our best. I, personally, will miss her smiling face and that glint in her eye. You are singing with the angels now Cheryl! God Bless!

I was one of those who was fortunate enough to have heard those words.
I will always remember her twinkling eyes, her brilliant, warm smile, her huge heart and her indomitable spirit. Cheryl used her paintbrushes and her voice as forms of expressing her talent. She used her smile and her heart as forms of expressing her love for her family and friends. She used her faith as a form of showing others that there is hope and all things are possible. Cheryl, your journey through this life was well lived.
