McCANN, Gladys Viola - 92, Windsor, Hants Co., passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born October 7, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Benedict) Connors. Gladys was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Associate voting member of Branch No. 009 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Windsor. She was a member of the Windsor United Baptist Church, the Gliders Club and the Gliders Bowling League as well as, a member of the Friday morning Ladies Bowling League. Gladys was also a former member of the square and round dance clubs in the valley.She is survived by daughter, Myrna Mae Louise Burrows (Merton), Terrance Bay, Ont.; sons, Richard Stuart (Audrey Rourke), Three Mile Plains; Clarence Wade (Marjorie), Stellarton; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; sister, Muriel Benedict, Avondale. Gladys was predeceased by husband, Stuart (2011); grandson, Dean Burrows; daughter-in-law, Beverley McCann (2005); brothers, Lewis, Edwin and Harold; sister, Myrna, in infancy.The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Dykeland Lodge and the doctors and nurses of Unit 200 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by reception, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in Windsor United Baptist Church, 411 King St., Windsor, Rev. Jeffrey White officiating. Burial will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory Gladys may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society - N.S.
