Dear Kathy, Janice and family
Your mother was such an amazing person. Very giving and thoughtful. She made me feel like a part of the family and I remember all the wonderful trips to Sussex and Grand Lake when we were kids.
She and my mother were also very dear friends for many years and had lots of great times together at the Baptist church gatherings and neighbourhood social groups like Knit 'n Chat. My mother would be so sad to know of her passing and I am glad that she has Alzeimer's and will never know that Irma is gone.

Aunt Irma was truly an amazing woman and will be missed by all. She had a wonderful
gift of making you feel special and loved. Family meant the world to her. I remember her
saying that every night before bed she would pray for her family. She would recite the names of all her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, great great-grand-children.
I remember smiling, thinking of how early she would need to start her bed-time ritual to get through all those names !!
So many memories that make you smile,
So many stories full of love and laughter,
So many lives she touched in such a meaningful way,
So many hearts that are sad,

Irma will be greatly missed. She was loved by all. We will always remember all of the wonderful times that we shared together at the lake. She was like a second Mother, and her children were like brothers and sisters to us. Our daughter spent many happy hours playing with Dean. We will miss her telephone calls with the updates of her children and grandchildren and other news in her life. Irma was much loved and a wonderful person who will remain in our hearts for ever.

To Kathy, Janice and Families:
I recently attended a 40th year reunion of the 1976 graduating class from Windsor Regional High School and was reminded by Janice that I was her first friend in NS. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories of the time I spent being close friends of Kathy and Janice's and the very loving family they were part of - as well as with all of us kid in the neighborhood who played together, especially our baseball games.
Irma was like a 2nd mother to me, and I well imagine, to a few of us kids in the neighborhood who were lucky enough to spend time with her and family members.
I will always remember that my first time trying lobster was when Donnie and his girlfriend took Janice and I on a trip in his convertible to Peggy's Cove. It was such an exciting trip for me and every time I see, or eat, lobster I think about that trip.
I wish I had been able to be part of the visitations so I could see family members or attend the funeral service but was away on vacation.

Family of Irma Nelson: My mother Jean has many fond memories of your mother, she worked for your mom & dad when she was a single young woman. She was hired to do housework, cooking, etc. but, mostly to help look after their young boys when they were living in Lower Cape. Mom treasures her photos of them; George, Darrell, Gary & Donnie certainly stole her heart. She & Irma reconnected a few times over the years and mom thought of her often. We knew Irma as a gracious, friendly and loving woman. It was with saddness we heard of Irma's passing and we offer our sympathy to all the Nelson family. The last two times we went to see her in the nursing home she was sleeping so we didn't get to have a visit, butI'm sure we will in another life.

I always remember your mother from when you lived in Lower Cape. She was at something and as always, so slim and well dressed, but the shoes with the glass heels (or that is what they looked like to me). Beautiful.

Janice your mother was a real treasure and I am sure she will be missed by all of her family and friends. I remember when we Club 9 girls went to her house before heading off for a weekend of fun, Mrs. Nelson was so busy asking each one of us how we were doing and what we were up to that we barely had time to thank her for the use of her cottage! It didn't take long to realize one of her greatest gifts was to make you feel special and loved. May the memories of her kindness be remembered and shared with others for many years.

In Mother's tribute, we forgot to mention the amazing staff at the Elms. Who cared for and loved Irma. They were professional but went even beyond that with their love. They made Irma's last few year very pleasant, made her feel at home and she knew she was surrounded by love which we felt also. And Irma's family will always be thankful for them. And especially, Laura and Janelle who were with mother for the last 6 years. You are family.
