The the family of Mrs. MacMillan,
I was so sad to hear of the passing of Mrs. MacMillan. A year has passed and I still think of her so often, she was such an inspiration in my life. I was only twelve when her and I became friends, but she was such a special person to me. The way she coordinated all the young people on Underwood Drive to help her build the community garden was wonderful. I always enjoyed visiting her in the afternoons after school or on weekends. despite the 80 year age gap between us, she was a great friend of mine.
Even after moving away I still loved to visit Mrs MacMillan whenever I was back on the east coast again. I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to visit her in both the summer of 2015 and again in 2016, after I returned from living overseas. Even after years away Mrs. MacMillan was still an absolute pleasure to sit down and chat with for hours.
She had the most beautiful heart and is such an incredibly special person in my life. I aspire to be even half the woman she was. My condolences to the family of this lovely woman. I will remember her throughout my life, with regular reminders whenever I see a pansy or a hear the song of a chick-a-dee which she loved so much.

Vivian was someone who played a large part in my childhood. She was my Sunday School Superintendent first and then my Explorer leader.
She welcomed many tourists to the MacMillan Manor. Back in the 1940's and 1950's it was one of the few places in town for tourists, and we knew many returned because of her hospitality.i
Certainly no woman in Lockeport played a more important role in the community as not only was she involved in Explorers for the girls, but also started up Cubs and scouts for the boys. In fact, her whole life was one of making a better place of wherever she lived.

Sorry for your loss. Vivian was a Bright Spot in so many lives. She brightened my day when we chatted a few years ago as I wrote about her cheerfulness and vibrancy for a Herald column. I' m sure she leaves many fond memories for Ian and the family.

What an incredible lady! I remember Vivian from my grandmother's bridge parties. Vivian and I shared a keen interest in politics and always had a lively exchange when our paths crossed. I am so happy to see that she enjoyed a very, very full life and a peaceful passing.
I remember reading a couple of years ago in the Hants Journal that "on this day 25 years ago Vivian MacMillan attended a retirement convention in (I think) Ottawa." Imagine, 25 years ago! I found the idea of that to be simply fascinating.
My deepest sympathies go out to Ian, who was one of my favorite high school teachers, and all of his family.
