Obituary of Shirley Lee Johnston

JOHNSTON, Shirley Lee Age 67, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2016, with her family by her side, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on January 27, 1949 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Benny Kyle and Louise Marie (Barkhouse) Pearson. Shirley enjoyed darts, dances, 45's, crib tournaments, watching ball games and her favourite hockey team, Montreal Canadiens and watching her boys play numerous sports whether on a field, the ice or a court. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley worked at Steadmans, Zellers, Uncle John's and her best friend Sue's restaurant. She also volunteered for numerous organizations. Shirley was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by sons, Peter (Tracey), Michael (Jocelyn) and Wray (Melanie); grandchildren, Miranda, Macie and Kyle; step-grandchildren, Tiffany, Ceilidh and Sienna; sister, Judy (Chris) Marsters; brother, Blair; step-father, Eddie (Beulah) Pearson; sisters-in-law, Diane (Blaine) Fitzgerald, Shelley (Paul) Bonnanfont; brother-in-law, Laurie (Marg) Johnston; aunts, Lillian and MaryLou Barkhouse; several nieces, nephews and step siblings. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Darrell; in-laws, Ray and Irene Johnston. The family would like to thank the staff of Windsor Elms, Osprey Landing, for their excellent and dedicated care shown to their Mom. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Also, they would like to thank Aunt Diane for all of her love and extra attention given to their Mom during her stay at the Elms. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hantsport Fire Hall, 5 Oak Street, Hantsport, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport with a reception back at the fire hall to follow.
