JACKSON, Agnes Evelyn
Falmouth - With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing at home on December 19, 2016 at the age of 93. Born in Falmouth, NS, she was a daughter of the late Miner and Blanche (Lane) Cochrane. Agnes spent her married life in Oshawa, ON, raising her family, providing leadership with various groups and zestfully participating in curling, golf, bridge clubs, 500 club and quilting. A highlight was winning the Ontario Senior Women's curling championship in 1974 and subsequent entry in the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame. She was working on her crossword puzzles to the end.
Loving and cherished mother of Ian Jackson (Gayle), Oshawa, ON; and Faye Jackson (Robert Burns) of Falmouth, NS. Treasured grandmother of Sean (Tasha), Tracy (Matt), Jeremy, Timothy, Emily and Matthew. Cherished great-grandma of Cooper, Mckenna and Andrew. Agnes will be dearly missed by sisters, Lois Joudrey, St. Catherines, ON; and Joan Young, Windsor, NS; brother-in-law, Fred Newbery, Halifax, NS; sister-in-law, Marion Bigwood, Oshawa, ON; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her adoring husband and soulmate of 71 years, Gordon Jackson; brothers, John and Paul, sister, Caroline Newbery, and sister-in-law, Bernice Perry.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317). A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 23 in Ste. Croix United Church, Rev. Krista Anderson officiating. A reception will follow in the church basement. Interment will be held at a later date in Ste. Croix Cemetery. Donations in memory of Agnes may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Ste.
