Wendy had phoned me that Norm passed away on June 4th, and I just read his obituary on line. He was so fortunate to have his family take care of him, and I am sure it was not easy at times. I was thinking of years ago when he and his friend's spent time in the basement in Canning, and how they used to have such good laughs, playing jokes on each other, and riding around in a wicker doll carriage. I know his family will miss him. All the best to all, Love, Noreen

We would like to express our deepest sympathy on the death of your dad. Holly remembers Norm as the Santa that always came in our house on Wiley Ave., and she was afraid of him! He was a kind man, with a great sense of humour. He will certainly be missed, but be proud of the loving care that you gave him.
Sincerely,
Doug & Sue Fraser

Tara and Jason, you were always the light and the sparkle in your dads eyes. I met Pat on Apple Blossom weekend 47 years ago. Your dad had brought him to the parade. They had lived together in an apartment in Dartmouth. I went to school with Norman and he had so many friends from Canning and area.
Your dad was best man at our wedding 46 years ago and he was a member of our family as well. My mom ( deceased ), my dad and sisters loved him like a brother.
Your dad always stopped in when he was in the valley and we had a great many long tales to tell.
God bless you for looking after your dad. He is smiling down from heaven, as we are looking up and joining in your loss and grief.
Love

David and I have many fond memories dating back to the WFD and the RCMP auxiliary days when he and Norm were members of these families. Dave and I often reminisce about the countless number of humorous events we shared between us and others. Memories sometimes fad but usually not forgotten between friends. Rest in peace Norm.

Tara and Jason;
Although it has been many years since we were young kids and childhood friends, I will always have very fond memories of our time as neighbours. Your family was an important part of my childhood. Your dad was always such a kind man. I have many memories of him pulling up after work in his MT&T van at the end of a long day on Wiley Avenue while we played on the street; I also remember a shiny red two door car back in the early 80's (?) and how he would be out with the hose washing it until it sparked! He had a special way with children and I suspect that was why he got suited up each December and helped others find and feel the magic of Christmas. I'll forever remember our trips to the fire station and running through the basement of that place- we must have driven him crazy at times! And, of course, every time I hear Alabama playing "Mountain Music" I think of those days way back, when the stereo was turned up and some good times were had.
The most recent days were more challenging but the love, support and care you gave to your dad is absolutely amazing.
I can only imagine the depth of pain in losing a parent. Hold onto those good memories and let them help guide you through the difficult days. I'm thinking of you all and willing you strength. As always, light and love. Jan. xox
