What a beautiful man -- and what a legacy. I had the lovely opportunity to meet John's daughter Jennifer journeying thru Western Spain these past few weeks. What a lovely soul she is and what a tribute to her father's legacy her kind and adventurous spirit is!

These past years my association with John has been through the Hantsport Baptist Church, the Legion, Historical Society and various other functions. In the past I was honored when he made arrangements for me to interview his late mother on the occasion of her 100th birthday at his now deceased sister's home.. Such an all round wonderful family, such a wonderful gentleman. His activities and travels made fascinating journalistic features.
Christian sympathy to John's family. Unfortunately I am unable to attend his service. My prayers will be with you.
Our loss is Heaven's gain. Blessings - Annie

Leland, Jennifer, Andrew, Ellen,
My thoughts and prayers for you upon the passing of your Father. It was my pleasure to meet all of you and to be of service to your dear father. John was such a sweet man and a reflection of Christianity. His smile, laughter and sound of his voice as he sang some mornings will remain ingrained within my being forever. There is no doubt that he is now in a peaceful place and exactly where he so yearned to be. Peace be with you all.

Our sincere condolences to the Harvie family. John was a pillar in the community of Hantsport and Hantsport Baptist Church. He was a true gentleman, a devoted Christian, proud veteran, and was kind and thoughtful in many ways. We always looked forward to his donation of paradise jelly for our pantry table at the Baptist Church Christmas luncheon and sale. He lived a long full life and I know you have many fond memories. May you find comfort in your memories, as well as, the prayers, thoughts and kind words of family and friends.
With kind thoughts and deepest sympathy,
Debbie and Phillip Scott

Dear Andrew and the extended Harvie Family. Upon reading and reflecting on the previous condolences posted, I found them to dovetail with all of the positive things that I experienced of John for the time that he resided in Halliburton Place. It was a privilege getting to know him ~ Rest eternal grant unto John, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. Amen.

My heartfelt condolences to all John's family. I remember him vividly from all the years at Sunday school, the store, and more recently just greeting him when I saw him on occasion when we were home from Regina. He took his many responsibilities in the community and our church seriously and always welcomed me home during our chats. All Hantsport's long-time residents will be reflecting on John's leadership & accomplishments spanning many years. My prayers are with him & the family.

My condolences to the family. I too have great memories of Mr. Harvie at the Red and White, and every Sunday before we headed downstairs to our Sunday School class Mr. Harvie, the Sunday School Superintendent would send us off with a prayer always prefaced by " Gracious loving heavenly Father."...I am sure he is with his heavenly Father now.
God bless

My sincere condolences to the family members of John Harvie.
Although I have lived in Hantsport for 40+ years, it has only been in the past five years or so that I got to know John better. During my evening or afternoon walks on William Street, in fine weather I would often run into John sitting on his porch reading. I always stopped to chat with him for ten or more minutes about a variety of subjects. We even shared some books with each other.
Of late, I have missed him on my walks and found out he was in a nursing home. I was saddened to hear of his passing.
He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace, John

Dear Leland, Jennifer, Ellen, Andrew and family,
My sincerest condolences to all of you on the loss of your father. I have so many good memories of your family and the kindness your Mom and Dad showed me as a childhood friend of Leland. In more recent years whenever I was visiting my family, there would almost always be an opportunity to have a visit with John while passing by on the street. He never hesitated to share his faith in God which was always a blessing. I very much appreciated his sense of humour as well. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I pray The Lord will comfort all of you during this time.

My most deepest condolences to the family of one of the worlds most kindest and sweetest men I have ever known. With a heavy heart as I type this short note to each of you. I knew John from when he was a patient at Dr Pennell's office and looked forward to each of his visits, he always made me smile. Even when I lost my husband 3 years ago, John made sure he called me when I got back to work to offer his condolences. Even after he transferred his care to the Medical Office in Hantsport due to travel, every time I saw John out and about we always had a little chat when we met. You now have a special Angel to look upon you and with so much love. Our community has lost a well loved man, but gained another soul to watch over us. My prayers are with each of you as you go through this sad time.
Sincerely,
Lynn Schurman
