Obituary of Ida Mae Rissesco

of Falmouth, formerly of Windsor, Hants County, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on February 18, 1938, in Fox River, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late J. Wesley and Sophronia (Leary) Vaughan.
Ida was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Jerimah Rissesco, in 2010. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many fond memories were made at family gatherings or during family vacations. She was happiest in her garden, nurturing her plants and watching them grow. Ida was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Normal College and taught in Lunenburg, Cumberland, Shelburne and Halifax Counties, as well as in Alberta. She made many friends during her employment with Sears Canada.
She is survived by children; Darlene (Mathew) Nuqingaq, Iqaluit, Nunavut; Angela (Robert) Brooks, Windsor Forks; Jeffrey (Leah) Rissesco, Lower Vaughans; Dale (Ani Tudisco), Halifax; Timothy (Genevieve Harvey), Dartmouth; Brian (Carrie), Mill Section; grandchildren, Tuqqaasi and Jerimah Nuqingaq, Katrina and Brittany Brooks, Ashley Hysert and James Rissesco, Daniel Rissesco, Owen and Neil Rissesco, Laura and Grace Rissesco; sister, Ethel (Jake) Van Gogh; brother-in-law, Thomas (Marianne) Rissesco, sister-in-law, Mary Smith and many special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Ida was predeceased by her grandson, Gideon Nookiquak; sisters, Dora, Jean, Myrtle, Mary, Bertha, Amy, and Annie; brothers, Owen and Guy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor, NS (902-798-8317), where family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 12. A funeral service celebrating Ida's life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 13, in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dianne Parker officiating. A private family burial will take place immediately afterward in Maplewood Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre.
