Obituary of Carl Donaldson Murphy

MURPHY, Carl Donaldson

Formerly of Ellershouse, passed away peacefully Monday, November 27, 2017 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Ellershouse, he was a son of the late Frank and Pearl Murphy.

Carl worked for Nova Scotia Light & Power for 28 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed sitting at the end of his table and talking to company that dropped in. He loved playing the guitar and singing old tunes as well as spending time with his family and friends. Another pastime he enjoyed was going for long drives to Walton, Chester and Kentville.

He is survived by nephew, Stephen Vaughan; great niece, Katie Harvey; great-great niece and nephew, Jersey and Cailum; niece, Shelley Vaughan; many more nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by brothers, Herbert, Frank, Raymond and Owen; sisters, Ethel Murphy, Muriel Murphy, Myrtle Anthony and Erma Vaughan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, December 7. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 8 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
