Obituary of William Stafford Macumber

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of William Stafford “Billy” Macumber, of Falmouth, on Sunday February 4, 2018, at the Hants Community Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Billy retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after serving 22 years in the Army. He then went on to own and operate his wood business. After that he worked at the Windsor Curling Club in the winter months and in the summer months he worked at the Avon Valley Golf Club until he retired from both jobs years later. He was very musical and loved playing his guitar, fiddle and harmonica. He also enjoyed listening to bluegrass and country music. He loved nature and he enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter and family.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Shelley Grant (Claude), Antrim; grandson, Dana Grant (Sarah), Clinton, Ontario; granddaughter, Denise Grant, Kentville; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis and Brian; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Erma Macumber; brothers, Laurie, Darrel, Robert, Donald, Gary, and Paul.

He will always be thought of and will be sadly missed by those who loved him.

We would like to say a special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at the Hants Community Hospital for their care and support and helping him through his time of need.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor, NS (902-798-8317).
