Obituary of Lillian Ruby Barkhouse

Age 83 of Windsor, passed away peacefully in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax on Thursday, May 10, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness. Born on May 14, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Elva (Jodrey) Edmonds of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County.

 

After spending many years as a devoted wife and loving mother, Lillian worked at CKF, retiring in 1995. She then began filling her days with travelling, bowling, playing cards, music and dancing but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Nanny and "More" Nanny.

 

Lillian is survived by daughters, Donna (Stephen) Allen, Falmouth; Cheryl (Gary) Anthony, Kings County; sons, George Jr. (Debbie), Bedford; Darrell “Beanie”, Windsor; grandchildren, Brad, Angela, Ashley, Chassidy “Peanut”, Chris, Molly, Jamie, Alicia, Amber and Gregory; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Cole, Sidney, Victoria, Tanner, Drake, Claire, Cameron, Caeleb, Caedyn, Charles, Madison, Evan, Nash, Brianna, Brooke and Skye. She will also be lovingly remembered by sisters, Elsie Whitman and family, Lawrencetown; Hilda Keddy and family, Ottawa; brother, Walter Edmonds and family, Edmonton and sister-in-law, Wyona Edmonds and family, Nictaux.

 

Besides her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her husband, George “Sonny” Barkhouse Sr.; sisters, Helen and Pearl; brothers, Norman, Arthur and Lewis.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where visitation will be held Monday, May 14 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Lillian’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15 in the DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. A private family burial will immediately follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre.
