Obituary of Bernard "Tack" Allison McDonald Jr.
McDonald, Bernard Allison “Tack”
Age 71, of Hantsport, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, October 8, 2018. Born October 27, 1946 in Windsor he was a son of the late Bernard Allison and Jennie (Rushton) McDonald.
Tack was an avid golfer and belonged to Ken-Wo Golf & Country Club, New Minas. He also enjoyed baseball and had his own team: “Tack’s Terrors”. His profession was as a Stainless Steel High Pressure Welder; at one time, one of the few in Nova Scotia. Tack had influenced a lot of young men into going on to work in this field. He was known as a guy that would always be ready to lend a helping hand or give some advice. He also enjoyed fishing off the wharf in Hantsport and when the tide was coming in that’s where you would find him and his brother. He will be very sadly missed by his animal companions Isabella, Goldie and Diva, who helped keep him entertained.
Tack is survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Susan Cunningham; daughter, Jamie; son, Jason; brother, Lawrence “Spike” (Marianne), Hantsport; sisters, Jan (Pony), Hantsport; Karen (Patrick), Piggott Lake; Sandra (Andy), Kauai. Besides his parents, Tack was predeceased by sister, Catherine.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, October 20 at 2 p.m. in the Windsor Lions Den (downstairs, room 4), Windsor Community Centre, 78 Thomas St., Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.demontfamilyfuneralhome.ca
