We had the pleasure and great fortune to have met Harold on a few occasions. He was always pleasant, we enjoyed may interesting conversations. He loved life, sharing his experiences, helping people, and most of all he loved to laugh. I can remember our first conversation, he met me with a warm welcome, kind smile, and we talked about our families. He loved his family and friends very much.
We are sorry for your loss, send our condolences and wish you the strength during this difficult time.

Hello Crawley Family and my profound condolences to you at this time.
I was away all of last week and only saw this upon my return to Halifax on Saturday. Harold Crawley was the best science teacher I ever had! He was my Grade 11 and 12 Physics teacher at Saint Patrick's High School in 1980-81 and 1981-82 and it was the best time for taking theory and putting it into practical application. I can still remember him with a very serious look as we were going over vector physics and he would say, "If I am running at you at 20 miles per hour and I weigh 180 pounds....and you Murph, you're standing still and weigh 160 pounds, what is going to happen?" Before I could fashion a feeble response he would slap me on the back with a big smile and laugh and say, "You're going to get hurt!!"....."now let's figure this out with some numbers!". His enthusiasm was fantastic! I felt bad for the kids that took chemistry because I didn't think it could come close to the practical nature of our class. No question his mathematical skills carried me through my math courses in the Commerce program at St. Mary's. He was a teacher through and through; full stop!
Thank you, Mr. Crawley.....

It is said that some of our teachers greatly influence our entire lives. Harold, you were one of those. I was privileged to have Harold, better known as Mr. Crawley, in those days, as my math teacher during the first year of his teaching career. In those days, I was more interested in anything than I was interested in school but Harold coached me through. Harold not only taught us math but was instrumental in organizing the St. Patrick’s High Scuba Club; a group who have all remained friends right to the present day. My deepest condolences go out to Harold’s family and all his friends. Harold, you will be missed but never forgotten. Gerry Hull, St. Patrick’s High, class of ’69.

Harold and I worked together on various committees when we worked for the Halifax District School Board. Harold made the work an enjoyable experience because he was so well prepared, so helpful and so pleasant. There was always a smile and always a thank you. There was never an argument and compromise always sought.
I retired about the same time and like others pursued other interests. However, I felt truly sad when I saw his obituary which I must say captures the essence of this fine human being..
Well done Harold.

To Fran and family,
Harold was one of the nicest people I have ever known, but then you knew that only too well. He was respected colleague and teacher, but most especially a friend I only saw infrequently in our later years. It is a great loss to everyone who knew this kindly, caring man. My heart goes out to those who were close to him... and my prayers and thoughts are with you now and in the future. God Bless!. Frank

I was sad to learn of Harold's passing and I extend my deepest sympathy to Frances and family. I knew Harold quite well as he was head of science at QEH when I was a teacher there. Harold was a great guy, considerate, supportive, compassionate and fair to all in his department. He helped with forming the QEH Amateur Radio Club (VE1QEH) and held the callsign, VE1HFC. Harold was always in a good mood and this rubbed off on students and teachers. I will remember him as a fantastic person and boss – simply the best. May he Rest In Peace. Jim Cleveland

Frances and Family,
We were so saddened to hear of Harold's passing. He was such a fine gentleman and will certainly be missed by many.
Harold and I shared many interests ... family, education, religion and love of woodworking and electrical. He was my mentor when I first started at St. Pats and we were pleased to find that we were related through marriage (Ann is Harold's cousin from the McKenna side).
Ann and I will forever keep our good memories of Harold.

My deepest condolences to all family members. I was a student of Mr Crawley in the mid 70's at St Patrick's. He was a great teacher and always commanded respect. In his classroom there was none of the chananagans that went on with some others. He took his profession very seriously and truly cared that his students were learning. He delivered what most of us needed. If we had more teachers like him our education system would be so much better. I remember him as a tough but very fair teacher who also demonstrated an abundance of kindness. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

Harold (Mr. Crawley) was my grade twelve math teacher at St.Pat's in 1972. He was a great guy. One story I have is when a friend and I skipped class in June to go golfing at Old Ashburn. We were hitchhiking home with our clubs on Dutch Village road when he drove by in the opposite direction giving us a beep and wave accompanied with a large smile. My condolences to the family.

My deepest condolences to Mr. Crawley’s family. I work at Sobeys and chatted with Mr Crawley every week. Come to find out we had a mutual acquaintance...my boyfriend, Lawrence, who use to work on his truck at Stephens &Yeaton. He chatted about his wife, stories about his puppies and his love for his grandsons. He said I always knew when they were coming as there were extra things in his cart that they loved to eat. Or I always checked to make sure he had treats for the puppies. I will miss my chats with him but treasure the memories and conversations we had over the years. Thinking of all of you during this difficult time.

Harold and myself taught Grade 12 Math at St. Patrick's for the 1st few years that I came there.
We always had a running joke that his class sizes were about 30, where mine would be 20. Our desks were side by side for all the years Harold and myself were I together at St. Pat's...more than a dozen years.
I learnt so much for Harold, and so looked up to him as my mentor.
