I know there are never the right words to say when you are trying to comfort someone. I have been where you are not even a year ago. The emotions you will go through are endless. But behind the grieving, there will always be the memories. I remember going to visit you one day when you still lived at home. We were on spring break and "working" on some chemistry. Anyway, it was a really nice February day and your dad had that old blue civic of yours all in bits trying to get it safe for you to take to school the next week. I don't recall ever seeing anyone have that much of a twinkle in their eye fixing up an old car! Hug your family tight, and take some comfort knowing that your dad is now at peace. Even though we have drifted, you will always be a good friend. Get in touch if you need anything.

I knew Richard growing up in my town. The first day I went to work at the Minas Basin Pulp and Power I was moving a steel cart loaded with pulp logs for the grinders. I hadn't been furnished with steel toed shoes at the time and when I came around the corner and attempted to stop I couldn't and the cart was driving me up against the grinders. Richard thankfully was there and jumped to my rescue saving me from serious injury. I got steel toed boots the next day. I have never forgotten the assistance he gave me on that day. That was the type of person he was if you knew him. My condolences to his family

Where to begin, I have so many memories of my geocaching buddy rick o. We often toured the back roads together searching for Tupperware in the woods. Rick would usually be riding shotgun in my Jeep and we never stopped talking and swapping yarns as we made our way along the trail. Rick had the uncanny ability to find geocaches with ease. He would often check the hiding spot that I was sure I had just checked -- and find the cache. I guess I'm going to have to step up my game, all the while wishing that he was there with me! I will miss Rick on so many levels. In the short time I have known him, we became very close friends. My sincere sympathy to the entire family, but especially to Linda, Laura and Tracy. Rick will be with you always, with that twinkle in his eye, watching over you. With much love, Ken and Jan AKA GeoKen

It was a privilege knowing and working with Rick for many years. A friendly character blessed with a kind, gentle, softhearted nature that could be assertive when needed. I appreciated his practical approach to problems as he was always looking for a better way to do something. Thanks Rick for sharing your knowledge and helping me out of many a jam!! Your skill at restoring new life to old or broken items is legendary I'm sure.... I have a set of ornate hinges on my shed doors that Rick helped me to convert from an old set of industrial hinges he confiscated from a company scrap pile. I never open my shed door that I don't think of Rick. Linda, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. May you find comfort in Gods grace and the wonderful memories of Rick. Mike & Sheila Levy

I was just doing my quality check of just printed Hants Journal when I came across the obituary for Rick. This is such sad news! He was such a sweetheart and will be missed by many! Few days ago was first anniversary of my mom's passing and I know how you must feel- I still do. Wish there is something more that I could do to make it easier besides wishing you and rest of your family lots of positive energy at this moment... Hugs, Sladana
