When we hear of a sudden illness and subsequent passing of a man who
had the manners and caring for all people that Dave had for each person whose path he crossed,
our world suddenly becomes less. Never did I meet Dave that he didn't have a great smile and friendly hello, and if he asked "how are you?" he meant it and waited for your answer.

When first learning that Dave was not well just two weeks ago, I could not imagine that we in our community would not see Dave's smile again or hearing his welcoming voice.
Dave was one of those who first welcomed me to Windsor in the early seventies, like he did so many others, and he has been a cherished friend ever since. Whether with his Lion's vest on (and it was on a lot), in a business attire, at a community event or on the street; Dave was the same warm and jovial person, always with a smile. I have always admired Dave and I can almost wager that there were very few within the Windsor / West Hants region who did not know, enjoy and respect Dave. I can honestly say I am one.
He was the real deal and was always a willing participant in a pleasant conversation. I have known Dave for well over four decades and have known and enjoyed the friendships I have nurtured with his family. David, my friend, you have left your community a better place. You will be greatly and sadly missed and I am proud to have been accepted as your friend.

My deepest condolence to family of Dave burgess . I worked along David at Swinamer Supplies for a number of years. He was a true gentlemen ,family man first and a strong community worker for sure no question about that. It was an honour to have worked by his side for those years. May memories of a great guy help all you thru this difficult times. Gone way to early .Wish I new he was sick would of been nice to have visited with him again although we met in an elevator at the hospital 2 years ago having not seen him for over 25 years he didn't recognize me and had some fun with him until I told him who I was. We laughed . I moved away so me being grey haired fatter no wonder he didn't know me. I can remember our laughter will be my way of remembering a nice man who I had the privlige to work beside.
