Obituary of Gary Joseph Hashem
Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sadly, we announce the passing of Gary Joseph Hashem after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
We take comfort in the fact that his wife Linda was by his side during his illness and he is now resting in peace. Gary grew up in the Falmouth/Windsor area and is the oldest son of Peter and Vera Hashem of Windsor. He attended Windsor Regional High School where he developed many friendships and the love of basketball. He worked in Retail Sales and Distribution for a number of years before finding his true calling as an Industrial Electrician. He and his wife Linda lived in Western Canada for many years before returning to the Annapolis Valley in 2008.
Gary’s greatest passions in life were his many dogs, being creative in the kitchen and spending time with his grandchildren and nephews. He was a loving husband with a quiet presence but was also the biggest kid in the room when children were around. He was at his best making them squeal with delight from some of his fun-loving antics.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda Blaedow; his daughter, Amanda Wamback (Trevor) and his stepdaughters, Holly Blaedow (Travis), Liela Blaedow (Ron); and his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. Gary is also survived by his parents, Vera and Peter Hashem of Windsor; his brothers, Dale (Solais), Peter, Brian and Kevin; and sisters, Darlene (David) and Denise.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and caregivers who looked after Gary during his illness.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A private family gathering will take place at a future date. Donations in memory of Gary may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, N.S. Division, 5826 South St. Halifax, NS B3H 1S6.
