We were saddened to learn of Sid's passing. We have many fond memories of him from our time at Teachers' College and years teaching together at BDS. He was well-liked by his students, as well as staff.

Dear Carolyn and family
Please accept my deepest condolence at this very difficult time. Sid was instrumental in helping to develop student introduction to computers when they were being used in schools. He was always approachable and was very well liked by the school community.

I was saddened to read that Sid had passed away. I have many fond memories of working with Sid at BDS. He kept the staff room stocked with coffee, solved our computer problems and never failed to brighten our days with his wit, charm and sense of humor.
Sid was a dedicated family man and a fine teacher who was a favourite among the many students he had taught throughout his career.

Jamie and Corrine, I am so sorry to hear that Sidney has passed. I remember him well from the little school in Cambridge. I'm sure He became a wonderful teacher. Carolyn, Adele, Eva and family, We are deeply sorry for your loss. Mr. Russell was a very nice man and an excellent school teacher. Our oldest son Troy, was in his classroom years ago, in Grade 5, and still today, calls him the ''best teacher, ever''! I remember how often he spoke of Adele and Eva, and was so proud of his family. We have fond memories of him as an excellent, caring, thoughtful & very helpful elementary school teacher at Brooklyn District. I was so sorry to read that Sid had passed. I have many fond memories of him as a teacher and a resident of Avondale for many years. He was always honest when he spoke to me as his Muniicipal Councillor and didn't pull any punches. He will be missed by many and I hope that is comfort to Carolyn and family.

Carolyn and family, It was with great sadness that I read of Sid's passing. I knew him for the past 55 years as a dear friend. We roomed together for two years in Truro and kept in contact on a regular basis ever since. The stories I could tell you of our adventures together would curl your hair but I'll leave that to another time. I did notice that he was known as "Sid" and that story I'll relate. The day we met I was in our room at the boarding house when he arrived with his mother, also a teacher, and was introduced as Sidney Russell. I extended my hand and said " Pleased to meet you Sid," to which his mother corrected me in her teacher tone, " his name is Sidney" and so our adventure began. June and I missed our annual visit last year for the first time since we were married 52 years ago and now sadly there will be no more. We mourn with you in this time of loss but will keep Sid in our memory as will you by thing thinking of the many wonderful adventures you have had with this very kind and gentle gentleman.
