Joanne, Rick, Tony and families we are sorry to hear of Joan's passing, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sixty years ago your family were the very first people I met in Bishopville. I remember staying at your home while our family was moving from Hantsport to Bishopville the kindness and warm welcome I received in your home has always stayed with me. Joan has always had a special place in my heart. I will always remember her coming to my house collecting for cancer or heart and stroke charities; it makes me smile to remember her walking right in ... and up the stairs if I just happened to still be in bed to get me up so I could donate. My door was always open to her and she definitely knew she was welcome to come in and make herself at home and I loved her for it. She has been and will always be one of my favorite people in the world. God Bless you all and I feel sure we will see her again when we take our own trip to the other side.

Joan and I went to the same one room school in Upper Burlington. Joan and June, her twin, were in my grade. When I saw her at the Elms as she was visiting June, I later tried to phone her, but was unsuccessful.
We would have enjoyed some tales of long ago, and had a good laugh I am sure.

To the family
So very sorry to hear of joan’s passing she was an extraordinary human being and a heart of gold I have so many memories of her and she always had a smile for everyone and a story! I think she knew everyone from miles around I still remember her being on the CB radio talking and laughing with people from all over Canada and the states! Plus she was the only lady I knew that always had treats to give to any of the kids around she loved people the more the merrier was her motto! She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her, I can see her in heaven now making her rounds and laughing and dancing! Rest Easy sweet Joan !

I have many great memories of Joan. Lots of laughter. I hold them close. I was also a caregiver when she lived in Mt Denson. We spent most of the visits reminiscing as we did our care. She was a force all her own. A tough lady but kind lady.
