Obituary of Jacqueline Helena Pothier
Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 89, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with her family by her side. Born in Mont-Joli, Quebec on July 7, 1932 she was the last surviving daughter of the late John and Helena (Mombourquette) Smith.
Jackie and Tom were married on January 3, 1950 when she was just 18 years old, although she would always tell people that she was 16 when she married. Together they put lots of time, hard work and hard to come by money, into starting and building a successful career and business in the automotive industry. The business had many faces but eventually after many years of hard work became the very successful current day, Pothier Motors. Because of the bank and money situations, over their start up years, Jackie the bookkeeper and financier, adopted a unique method of bookkeeping and money management. Jackie’s involvement in the company also took many other forms; delivering cars, stock clerk, collecting bills and lots of entertaining including baking and cooking for many official visitors to mention a few. However, her most important job over the years was raising their four children. For not being one who was much into going out, she was big into entertaining at home and enjoyed baking and cooking for many guests, from customers to family members. She always had homemade bread in the house and was always stepping forward to provide food items for Catholic Church events to which she was a long-time adherent of. She was always the first person to step forward and do anything she could or provide anything she could to help someone else out, especially her family. Jackie also enjoyed many years of camping which created many fond memories.
She is survived by sons, John (Carole), Jamie (Ceri); and daughter, Patty (Philip) Burgess; daughter-in-law, Charmaine; grandchildren, Bailey (Chris) Collins, Jared (Stephanie) Burgess, Chad (Yolan) Pothier, Brittany Pothier, Maia, Fallon and Isla Pothier; great-grandsons, Evan Collins, Drew Burgess and Luca Hubley.
Besides her parents, Jackie was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Tom; son, Philip; sisters, Evelyn Copp, Eileen Greenman, Marie Mitchell and Jean LeBlanc.
