Obituary of David John Belcham

It is with great sadness we announce that heaven gained another rider for Fall Roundup. Dave, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Residing in Garlands Crossing, he was formerly of British Columbia. Dave was a son of the late William and Nora (Wilcox) Belcham.

David graduated with honours from Olds Agricultural College, Plant Sciences. He became highly involved in BC High School Rodeo and had a love of the sport of cutting. Dave managed Ashcroft Ranch and received honours of Best Commercial Hereford Herd in Canada.

He loved and lived the western way of life and he loved to ride a good cow horse. A true rancher, cowboy, steward of the land and the worlds greatest Dad. So much was learned from him especially the important lessons of life, it’s a longways from your heart, it will only hurt for a minute, life builds character, dot your I’s and cross your T’s, beans and wieners are a nutritious meal and always mind your manners but the most important of all, that Hereford beef is its own food group.

In retirement Dave enjoyed keeping himself busy renovating houses and gardening, which became a well-loved hobby for him. He also enjoyed spending time with Jacob, to whom he was a beloved “Grumpy”.

Dave is survived by his wife, the former Ann (Deane); children, Donald (Teresa Fines) and Sherri (Barry Lowe); grandson, Jacob Fines-Belcham; siblings, Douglas, Kenneth and Maryanne.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert (2019).

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation or funeral service by request.
