For many years he brought a wonderful sense of enjoyment to our annual Burns Night celebrations, and his Doric vernacular enriched our appreciation of Scottish heritage. The obit of Alfie brought back many memories from our seagoing days and Marine School (In those days Pier 21). We worked for most of the same shipping companies here in Canada. Afie was a great shipmate and had this wonderful Scottish accent. Great memories of an earlier time.

Our Sincere and heartfelt condolences.
Alfie and I first met onboard the SS "Sunek" in 1970. He was one of the most entertaining, funny and pleasent ship mates and a pleasure to sail with. A very well respected professional engineer.
He will be fondly remembered by Kathleen and I for his comical reminiscences and humour and sadly missed by those who had the good fortune to know him.
