Obituary of Donna Louise Card
It is with sadness that we announce Donna passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the age of 82, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth “Dan” and Jean (Davis) Crichton.
Donna graduated top of her class from Kay Anslow School of Business. She began work at the Textile Mill in the office and then went to work doing administrative work for accountant Leonard McBride and finished her working career doing clerical work at Hants Community Hospital. She was a hard worker, from her working career to her lifelong career as a mother, to babysitting many children, until the late ‘80s, all of which benefited from her loving care. Donna had a few great passions in her life, her love of children, animals, gardening and flowers and Christmas to name a few. She was also a great baker who made the best apple pies and chocolate chip cookies.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Laurie; sons, Edward (Charlotte) and Michael (Jackie); daughters, Susan (Paul) Burgess; Linda Card and Carol (Lester) Parsons; grandchildren, Ian (Toniane Picozzo), Lynn (Barry) Hogue, Jennie (Joey Greek), Ryan (Courtney) Harvie, Nick Harvie, Morgan Riley (Colin Chisholm), Connor and Jeremy Riley, Ashlynn (Kevin Mombourquette) and Joshua Parsons; great-grandchildren, Mason and Milo Harvie and Sabien Mombourquette; brother, Kenneth Crichton and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where a visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, February 23 (masks are encouraged). A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 24 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel (masks are encouraged), Rev. Rob Heffernan officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, King St., Windsor. Donations in memory of Donna may be made to any charity that helps animals; Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, 112-2719 Gladstone St., Halifax, NS B3K 4W6 of a charity of one’s choice.
