Obituary of Richard Herbert Robinson

80, of Garlands Crossing, Hants Co., passed away at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Born in Halifax, September 7, 1942, he was a son of Wilfred and Mildred (Brown) Robinson. Richard lived in Halifax all his life until relocating to Garlands Crossing in 2020.

He was employed as an auto body repairman at several shops in Halifax, eventually becoming shop foreman at Tanner Chrysler. He then became an insurance adjuster for Co-Operators Insurance until retirement in 1996.

In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed woodworking with brother David, and many of their creations are with family and friends. He enjoyed watching and attending auto races. He was a keen observer of events and construction activities in Halifax and Garlands Crossing and had a vast knowledge of people, places and events in Halifax.

He was an active member of Fort Massey United Church, Halifax, serving as Custodian for many years and was also a member of the Board of Trustees.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol, Garlands Crossing; sons, Aaron (Sue), Tantallon, and Dave, Halifax; grandchildren, James, Michael and Sarah, all of Tantallon; brother, David Robinson, Garlands Crossing; sister, Patricia (Allan) Snow, Halifax; brother-in-law, Donald Artz, Enfield; sister-in-law, Faye Graham, Kentville; several special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by sister, June Artz.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home, 419 Albert St. Windsor (902-798-8317), where a celebration of life service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 26.
