Obituary of Grant Alan Deal Maxwell

Age 88, of Old Barns, formerly of Brooklyn, Hants County, passed away peacefully at home with family Friday, May 12, 2023. Born July 5, 1934 in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harry and Ella (Deal) Maxwell.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Grant is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Judy (Cochrane); daughters, Suzanne (Duncan) Maxwell-McCurdy, and Jill Maxwell (Wayne Smith); grandchildren, Ella and Caleb McCurdy. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Veronica Maxwell; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by infant son, Jeffrey; brother, Fred Maxwell; sister, Joyce Maxwell and her husband, Bob Gilfoy.

A very special thank you to the VON nurses, caregivers and private night team for their wonderful and compassionate care. 

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor, NS (902-798-8317). A graveside service will be held at a later date.
