It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmella "Nanny" Hazel, age 80, of Scotch Village, on Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. She was a daughter of the late Albert and M. Carmella (MacDonald) Roth.

Carmella is survived by her husband of 63 years, Oren Hazel; granddaughter, Heather Levy (Jonah Davidson); great-grandsons, Xander and Edward; former son-in-law, Darryl Levy; sister, Priscilla MacDonald; sisters-in-law, Beverly Crowell (Donnie) and Darlene Mosher (Mike); several nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents, Carmella was predeceased by infant daughter, Marlene Hazel; daughter, Victoria (Hazel) Levy; sister, Marina Remo; brothers-in-law, Fred Remo and Gerald MacDonald.

Carmella loved playing cards, bowling, bingo, socializing with others and her flower beds. Her faith was very strong. She taught Sunday school at Scotch Village Baptist Church for 35 years and worked for Canada Post for 24 years.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 30 in Hillview Cemetery, Scotch Village, Rev. Darryl Levy officiating. Please bring a chair and an umbrella if you require one. Donations in memory of Carmella may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6 or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Box 245, Halifax, NS B3J 3R4.
