Obituary of Byron Ernest Johnson
Age 69, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, August 29, 2024, with family by his side. Bushy was born July 31, 1955 to the late Atwood and Charlotte (Maynard) Johnson in Windsor. He grew up in Hantsport, the oldest of three children.
Bushy is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Susan “Susie” (Packer); their three children, Ian, Claire and Warren (Breagh); five grandchildren, Neva, Lennon, Owen, Quentin and Grayson. He is also survived by brother, Mark (Michelle); brother-in-law, David Packer and five nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bushy was predeceased by infant sister, Faith Elaine.
Over the years Bushy chose to work in various industries and roles. A few of his proudest were silviculture, specialty hardwood scaler, log home building and heavy equipment operation.
In 1979 He and Susie moved to a cabin on the Herbert River in Greenfield, Nova Scotia which would be where they started their family. Not soon after having their first child, he built the log home his children would be raised in just up the hill.
Bushy was passionate about all things outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or cutting next year’s firewood. He always looked forward to hunting season in BC (back at the camp) where he would spend the season with his closest friends and family. He loved sharing his passion for nature with his family and friends. Bushy took great pride in maintaining his woodlot, it was his “happy place”!
His spirit lives on in “Bushy” (named after him) the Bald Eagle rescue who was rehabilitated and released back on his woodlot. Bushy the eagle watches over his life's work.
Thank you to all Bushy’s many friends and family for their daily visits over the last couple of months.
