DAVISON (Swinamer), Janet Lynn - 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at her home in Woodville, Hants Co.Janet was best known for her quirky sense of humour and her dedication to her family, friends and community. She was a long-time member of Brooklyn Fire Department Auxiliary, serving many years as President. Janet participated wholeheartedly in the realization of the Brooklyn Civic Centre. She participated in all of the dinner theatres presented at the fire department, written and directed by Carol Peterson. One of Janet’s proudest accomplishments was being awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for volunteer work in February of this year.Through her life, Janet also dedicated her time and abilities to the local 4-H program, Saint James Anglican Church and Christ Church Anglican, Windsor; where she married her loving husband Garnett. When Janet wasn’t working for her community you could find her entertaining at "the cottage," enjoying the sunset and having a "big girl" drink. Janet was a talented seamstress and a baker of great brown bread (among other things). She played the piano and always had a song on her lips. Spending time with her granddaughter Grace often involved baking and a song.She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Garnett, Woodville; son, Brent, Windsor; daughter, Jennifer (Eddy MacDonald), Lower Vaughan; granddaughter, Grace (mother, Ann Williams), Ellershouse; brothers, Ralph (Marilyn) Swinamer, Kingston; John (Sherry) Swinamer, Mahone Bay; aunts, Kay Swinamer, Halifax; Marge Lockhart, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor; Mary Maynard, Windsor; uncle, Ben Eldridge, Kelowna, BC; sisters-in-law, Wanda (Dave) Winaut, Liverpool; Heather (Terry) Manning, Hopewell; brothers-in-law, Wendell (Diane) Davison, Woodville; Roddy (Tracy) Davison, Kentville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Janet will be dearly missed by her "fur" family, Touloose, Gribette and Smiley. She was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Annie (Eldridge) Swinamer; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.Janet lived life to the fullest. All are invited to share in the celebration of her life at 2 pm, Wednesday, July 24 at the Brooklyn Civic Centre, 995 Highway 215, Brooklyn, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Her family will receive friends from 1 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm. A reception will follow. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Janet may be made to Brooklyn Civic Centre or West Hants Palliative Care.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317).
