Obituary of Ronald C. Garland

GARLAND, Ronald Clarence - 75, Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011, peacefully with family by his side at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Windsor, the son of the late Clarence and Nettie (Bruce) Garland.Ron was a long time employee at Nova Scotia Power. He was a dedicated member of Windsor United Church, serving on many committees and many years in the choir. Ron was known for his love of music. He played in several bands, his latest accomplishment was the completion of a CD, "Newfie Connection," with longtime friend Dot Rodgers. His love of family, friends and life itself was evident in the way he lived everyday.Ron is survived by his loving wife, the former June Crossley; daughters, Charmaine (James) Salter, and Pamela Garland; son, James (Paula) Garland; grandchildren, Macey (Joey) Rolfe, Katrina Salter (Radwin), Kailee Salter (Matt), Mallory Moors, Shannon Moors (Andrew), Benjamin Garland and Channing Garland; great grandchildren, Rhylo Parker and Nyla Rolfe; sisters, Rae (Donald) Miller; Janice Garland; Susan (Dale) Leighton; brother, William (Allie) Garland; sister-in-law, Jean Garland; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother, John "Jack" Garland.Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral and Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor, (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, December 20. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, in Windsor United Church, 613 King Street, Windsor, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. The interment service will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, with a reception following in the Church Annex. Family flowers only, by request.
