Retired S/Sgt. Vic Gorman. I was a young Cst. with the RCMP when I was transferred to Windsor. Mrs. S ran the detachment and was very knowledgeable and helpful to all of us. We all respected her and loved her very much. You must be very proud of your Mother. I remember the great fun we used to have at the cottage, such great memories. My wife (Jan) and I drove past the cottage a couple of months ago and all those memories came flowing back. We are sorry for your loss, she was a great lady.

My heartfelt condolences to Elma's family during these difficult times. I first met Elma many years ago when Joan & Murray Boland (my father) married - and I was introduced to this wonderful group of siblings and families. They were certainly a warm and welcoming bunch. Elma was always willing to chat, had a great sense of humor, a warm smile, and greatly valued her family & friends. She will certainly be missed.

I arrived in Windsor as a young 20 year old fresh out of training and soon learned the value Elma was to the detachment. Always known as Mrs. S. to me she was extremely helpful, patient and taught me as much as anyone how to go about investigations, correctly write reports, etc. Before computers Mrs. S. was our data base at the time. She seemed to know everyone in Hants Co. and could tell you all about them and where you would most likely find them. I'll always have very fond memories of her and enjoying a few trips to the cottage on the lake.

Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She would be remembered by many members of Windsor detachment for her smiling face and her help with the many reports we had to write by correcting our mistakes and filling in the blanks where things were left out. Her knowledge and help was appreciated by all. She even helped to water our Tomato?? in the front foyer. In all she was a great lady. Sorry for you loss.

Our sincere condolences to Elma's family. Always enjoyed chatting with Elma when visiting Mom when they were room mates at HCH and then neighbors in Osprey 2 at WEV. Whenever I was at WEV before COVID hit I would try to pop into say hi. I also have memories of her attending auxiliary meetings at our home and can't forget the Sunday School picnics. When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Cherish your many memories. Sending kind thoughts and deepest sympathy.

Elma was one of the nicest Detachment Clerks I worked with over the 8 years I worked at Windsor Detachment. Would do her best to ensure reports were typed and court documents professionally prepared. All you had to do was say "Mrs. S when you get a spare moment could you have this report done" even though it was due in a couple of days. She would always put it on top of the pile. If you demanded it be done then it went to the bottom.
