BLANCHARD, Robert S. "Robbie" – 70, Ellershouse, Hants Co., passed away suddenly Saturday, January 12, 2013 at home. He was the son of the late Sedley and Florence (MacDonald) Blanchard.Robbie was president of R.S. Blanchard Plumbing & Heating for 43 years. He volunteered in many organizations including Minor Hockey and the Newport Rink Commission. He was also a member of the St. Louise Union Church, where he served on the Board of Stewards and as a Trustee. Robbie enjoyed outdoor activities and was a hardworking man making sure his family was cared for. He took pride in working on his farm, as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren.Robbie is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 49 years, Carol (Olsen); daughters, Wanda, St. Croix; Heather (John Allen), Ellershouse; sons, Andrew (Arlene Dunne), Ellershouse; Jason (Nicole Jackson), Upper Tantallon; grandkids, Jessica, Shaylene and Marc Vouligny, John, Chris, Justin, Connor and Abby Blanchard; sister, Mary Norman (Brian), Aylesford; brothers, Joe (Clara), Windsor; David (Gloria), Ellershouse; Charles (Dorothy), Louisburg. He was predeceased by brothers, Norman, George and sister and brother, Julia and Ranald, in infancy. He was a very special man to all who knew him.Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd.), 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors Tuesday, January 15, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Wendy Kean officiating. Interment will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Ellershouse. Family flowers only, by request.
