Shirley was a first cousin to my Dad, Bruce McKenzie. We would often make a trip from Middleton to visit Shirley in her home. She was always so gracious, hospitable and yes beautifully dressed. When my Dad passed, I continued to keep in touch with Shirley; however, not as often as I would have liked. She was so young in every aspect and when she revealed her age to me last time I visited, I had a difficult time believing that she was in her 90's. I can only hope to have her great genes. :-) We shared a love of crossword puzzles and would compare notes as to which crosswords we liked best in the morning Herald.
My sincere condolences from my family to your family. She was a special lady and I know she will be greatly missed. Tish, she always sang your praises and I know how much you will miss her. Nice to talk to you the other day.
I was hoping to be at the service this morning to meet some of my distant relatives but opted out because of the weather warnings. I did watch the service online and it was lovely.

I will always treasure my visits with Tish to see Shirley and sometimes have an outing. Shirley was one of the best-dressed women I've ever known-- she was so conscientious about her hair and attire, and I sometimes felt I fell short of her expectations. Shirley had a wonderful twinkle in her eye and a coquettish young-girl smile that will be my memory of this special lady.

Shirley was a kind and gracious lady. It was so nice to visit her in her lovely apartment at the Manning pre Covid. She spoke of her family and her friend Trish. My mother quilted with Shirley’s mother in a group at Windsor Baptist. Mother and daughter attended church regularly and I always enjoyed chatting with Shirley. Sending sincere sympathy on your loss. Shirley was a very fine lady in the truest sense. She had a very sincere and rather simple faith and was a lifelong supporter of the Windsor Baptist Church. It was a privilege to have known her and I pray that her loved ones will find comfort and strength from the promises of God's word. Sincerely, John Bartol
