Obituary of Shirley Marie Walker

Age 96, of Windsor, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bridgewater on March 25, 1926, Shirley was a daughter of the late Charles and Mamie (Reeves) Walker.

She was an active member of Windsor Baptist Church, having served as Trustee and Secretary.

Shirley is survived by nephew, David (Martha), Salt Springs Island, B.C.; great-nephew, Scott (Alana Bird); and their daughter, great great-niece, Penny; great-niece, Jennifer Taylor; also survived by cousins, Kenneth (Linda), Scott, Jamie, David (Debby), Ryan (Erin), Corey (Samantha) Walker and their children all of Halifax; and special friend and companion, Patricia “Tish” Jackson, Chester.

Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by sister, Jean Taylor and brother-in-law, Grant.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). No visitation, by request. A service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 23 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel (masks are encouraged), Rev. Rob Heffernan officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
