This morning’s glorious sunrise was for my sister, Barb…
Just moments after I snapped this photo, I got a phone call…It was time to go to her side. After suffering a stroke early in the morning on Dec. 3rd and transferring to Valley Hospice on Dec. 12th, Barb went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family. Her suffering is over, and she is now smiling and singing with so many loved ones gone before her.
Music has always been a huge part of Barb’s life and it was music that carried her home. As “Silent Night” played out its last few words in her room…” Sleep in heavenly peace…sleep in heavenly peace…”, Barb took her final breaths…what a gift, as peace is what I have been praying for…❤️
We love you and will miss you fiercely…we will meet again.

Thinking of you with love, dear Barb.
I find myself reminiscing a lot of when we first met and became Pentecostal Sub-Arctic Mission roommates in Hay River from 1978 -1981.
I recount fun times - Stagg Lake, the Back Eddy Steak Spice fiasco and bear watching at the local dump, to name just a few. Your full of life laugh could often be heard in Fourplex 2 and your personality & smiles made sharing space fun.
I think of when we were both working in Yellowknife at the same time; you at YK Catholic Schools/YCS Central Office and I at the YK Education District No.1 - I still feel guilty about me making us miss a mid-day movie date. We did however make it to the Wildcat Cafe for a hearty bowl of Great Slave Fish Chowder.
I reflect on amusing catch up's during visits from time to time when you'd come to Edmonton, before & after retirement.
I especially look back on one of the best times ever, when you and Craig welcomed me into your new home in Three Mile Plains in July 2022. There were special day trips around and about, which included Lisa's, Berwick, Jonny's, Vernon's & Beach Meadows beach fun....so many memories.
You told me you felt very blessed when you and Craig were in Edmonton for two weeks just this past November 2023 - I simply could not wait to see you both & hug you tight at the luncheon.
Christmas, embraced by Jesus....what could be more fitting? An abundance of music, plenty of worshipful singing and I'm sure there are sunflowers there, too - just for you! See you again friend, in the sweet bye and bye.
Dear Craig, Meghan, Taylor, Karen, Brian and families...I can't imagine the heartache you're going through. Please know you're not alone. Barb was one in a million....memories live on!
